Authors Advice:

Presentation Matters.
For example, no editor will read a handwritten manuscript. If your material is submitted in the most appropriate format a publisher will be more inclined to give attention to it. For more information please read the Libros guidelines for submission.

Review you work
You’ve just finished you manuscript and now, understandably, you want to submit it to as many people as possible in the hope of getting it published. Many writers send their manuscripts in a ‘raw’ state, fresh off the printer. Do not send your manuscript to a publisher until it is ready to be seen as it could ruin your chances. Be confident that your work is as good as it can be.

Wilson Hallow must face his worst fears and stare down his darkest demons as he struggles between redemption…and survival. Could you stop a killer? Stare death in the eye, feel its hot breath on your face. Would you, could you save those you once loved? Casting Two Shadows is an unforgettable story of love, loss, and the ultimate sacrifice for truth and honour. We all tell the ones we love that we would die for them. How many of us actually could?

A personal message

When founding this company just over eighteen months ago, the overwhelming desire was to start a publishing company with the aim of giving quality, unknown and previously unpublished authors the chance to see their book in print and available to the entire English-speaking world. My co-founder Trevor Dalton, an unpublished but talented author in his own right, couldn’t have agreed more. When interviewing for new key personnel, Trevor and I carefully weeded out the applicants whose main motivation was how much they could earn. We assembled a team second to none and to this day the desire to publish as opposed to just making money remains our main motivation. We have been criticized from certain quarters who claim we should be concentrating more on marketing and selling books. They may well be right and as time goes on and finances allow, the book sales will improve and the company will grow. However if you were to ask me would I like to publish the new Dan Brown with sales in the millions or one hundred unknowns with sales in the hundreds I’d take the latter. (Perhaps our bank manager would disagree.)

Colin Doran was a young and talented author, previously unpublished. As soon as his initial manuscript, Casting Two Shadows, was read by Libros International, it was a hit with our readers. When forwarded on to the partners’ selection committee, again, it received a unanimous thumbs up. Colin was advised by e-mail and, not surprisingly, he was a little sceptical. Colin asked the questions all authors should ask and thought it was too good to be true. At last, it seemed, he was going to be a published author! Colin explained that he’d only ever received rejection slips from mainstream publishers, the standard thanks but no thanks and more than a suspicion that his manuscript hadn’t even been read. Furthermore, in all the years he’d been trying, he’d never ever struck up the type of dialogue he was now having with Dawn Harman, who first advised him he would be published, and Trevor Dalton, the author liaison manager. Latterly I answered several questions relating to his contract. When Colin realised he had actually been accepted for publication and there were no catches he wrote in an e-mail the immortal words “You guys rock!” and became a firm favourite with all of the team including the editing and design department.

Sadly, Colin Doran died just a few weeks before his book was due for publication. I have been in contact with his mother Peggy Mullin who has confirmed what we believed: that she still wishes Libros International to publish CASTING TWO SHADOWS. All royalties will be paid to a fund set up for his son Devin. As a further gesture of goodwill Libros International have increased Colin’s royalties above the level agreed in his original contact.

CASTING TWO SHADOWS by Colin Doran will be available for purchase towards the middle of April 2008.
