About Trevor Daltom

Trevor began his writing career at twelve years old when he penned a poem for his grandmother called ‘The drinking pig’.
He is ashamed to admit that one rhyme ran:

“There sat a pig in all the molluck,
A guzzling down a pint of wallop.”

Maybe he always had a way with creating words that sound like they should exist.

He wrote poetry until the age of forty-eight but dreamed that one day…
His school career was chequered and he didn’t finish with any qualifications other than Art and Engineering ‘O’ levels.

He followed a variety of jobs, was a beach bum, hippie, railway worker and, after a spell in the army, (he claims he was drunk!) he fell into sales.

Divorced twice and now remarried to wife number one he lives in Spain.
Trevor and his wife Brenda have two children by blood, Lee and Antony (spelling is correct!), three stepchildren, Natalie, Nick, and Beverly, and seven grandchildren, Dylan, Callum, Stacey, Hannah, Jack, Josh and Sam.

For his sins he sells real estate in Spain and spends his free time writing.

He chose the Horror genre after his forty-fifth attempt at a book failed. “I realised I had to write about something I understood,” because, as he says, “I was weaned on Hammer House of Horror.”

His interests include: “Playing the guitar badly, seeing the world, and riding on my best toy: a quad bike. We have had the seat extended and it now is a true two-seater. Deep joy driving down the road on a seriously ‘street-cred’ quad with a wicker picnic basket on the front.”

After enough rejection slips to paper a small room, would you believe, just like London buses, two offers to publish came along at the same time. An American company in Oregon and Libros International in Spain both courted Trevor for his debut novel. After meeting the team from Libros International Trevor duly signed the contract put in front of him.

He is indebted to Ken Scott, the author of ‘Jack of Hearts’ and ‘A million would be nice’, and all at Libros International for there help in publishing ‘The Possession Legacy’ and ‘Open Tap’. <Back>

Open Tap

Where can the waste created by this technological age be disposed of? The by-products of our relentless advancement are often more detrimental than beneficial. The necessity for this ‘waste disposal’ has given birth to a number of ruthlessly unscrupulous operatives. Open Tap traces the route taken by one such operative and the system he uses to dump the toxic concoctions he has collected. A puppy, lost and finally abandoned, is exposed over a period of time to this malevolent concoction. As the puppy grows to adulthood it develops a strange immunity to the poison it ingests. This immunity comes with a price tag however. From Wales, Walsall and Worcester, the characters in Open Tap begin their journeys to a final appointment with the Beast that the puppy has become. They are all destined to meet. Some will die. Some will live. But all their lives will change permanently as a result of this encounter.

He's gone and done it again. Trevor Dalton's second published novel, ‘Open Tap’, following hot on the heels of ‘The Possession Legacy’, is another cracking read.

The story of ‘Open Tap’ is pretty much guaranteed to give environmentalists (and just about anyone else, for that matter) nightmares - the illegal disposal of highly toxic waste leads to the evolution of a mutant canine creature and sets in motion a terrifying and tragic chain of events.

Even though his novels are mainly rooted in the horror/fantasy genre, Trevor Dalton has a talent for creating believable characters and situations. He uses genuine locations in his stories and this helps give a sense of realism to his work. He is a master craftsman at creating ideas and transferring them onto the page and the reader is able to relate to his characters and their emotions. All these elements are woven together perfectly in ‘Open Tap’, culminating in a climax that is quite brilliant.

I thoroughly enjoyed his first novel and I gave that a five star rating but I think that ‘Open Tap’ is even better so it should be worth between five and six stars really. Give this one a chance and I am sure you will not be disappointed. <Back>

The Possession Legacy

Llewellyn, the first Prince of Wales, is a legendary warrior who seems invincible in battle. His struggles with the Normans and his prowess on the field of combat seem almost superhuman. There are many rumours and even his own brother cannot understand the reasons for his strength.

Llewellyn travels to Carmarthen where he learns of Merlin’s prophecy and his own ultimate heritage to become a vampire.

Whilst fighting a Norman knight he is bitten by a female mosquito. The mosquito is crushed underfoot by the dray horses of the combatants and spends the next 500 years trapped.

The Book:

The time period is present-day: there is a tremendous storm which alters the course of the river and releases the mosquito. She is awakened by the blood from a fox kill and begins her quest to procreate and establish a brood of her own.

Sarah, a sixteen-year-old woman child, and Lynette, a pre-pubescent female, are both bitten mosquitoes and become strangely linked. The characters that form the basis of the story all find themselves in Wales at a hotel and their lives become interwoven as the story unfolds.

Sarah’s story takes place over the time frame of one week during which time she discovers her own vampire heritage and also her links with Lynette. The bloodlust she has inherited from Llewellyn and the needs of the mosquito brood mother lead Sarah on the rampage of killing that seals her ultimate demise from the start. In this, (Book One of a duet) we follow each of the characters and Sarah to their own ultimate bloody endings.

Parmenion Books Review

A chilling, modern tale of life, betrayal, humanity and vampires. A story that begins in the thirteenth century swiftly accelerating into modern times and grips the reader from the outset.
This story, unlike your run-of-the-mill vampire novel, does not rely on the past and the natural superstition of that era. It moves swiftly from past to present-day Wales and intertwines you in the everyday lives of various families going about their daily normality.
The author throws you into a mix of family emotions and troubles experienced by so many modern families whilst slowly seeding the birth of a modern vampire and the devastation to come.
This is an exceptional novel by a very skilled writer. Making this book a must read for fans of the Horror genre and a recommendation for anyone who has never tried that genre but always wondered where’s a good place to start.

Ken Scott - Author and top Amazon reviewer

I’ve never particularly liked the horror genre or the chiller type books as they are sometimes called. I’ve read them all: Stephen King, Koontz, James Herbert but give me a Grisham or a Harlan Coben any day of the week. And so it was without too much enthusiasm that I sat down on a wet Wednesday evening with Dalton’s debut novel.
Six hours later I put the book down, my eyelids crying out for mercy and just before I turned out the light I swore I saw a movement behind one of the curtains. Damned imagination!
And when I awoke, I put my daily chores on the back burner to finish ‘The Possession Legacy’. What more can I say? A book finished within twenty-four hours. Quite simply the best debut novel I’ve ever read.

Martin Penalver - Author – ‘IN SEARCH OF AN ANGEL’

It didn’t take me long to get into this book. Trevor Dalton’s debut novel reeled me in from the very beginning and tormented me through every twisting, trembling, turn of each page. Well written, with an imagination to rival the greatest horror writers of all time. Yes, I’m talking King; I’m talking Allen-Poe and Bram Stoker. This man is up there with the best of them and this debut novel makes me want to break down his door to ask where the next one is.

Brilliantly researched stunning prose, 31 Jan 2007Reviewer:

I wouldn't normally touch this sort of book with the proverbial bargepole but I was drawn in by the poem on the opening page. This guy can write, I thought never mind what he's got to say! But, wow, was I in for a pleasant surprise because not only can he write - at times with breathtaking beauty - but the story was well researched and believable (too much so) and I was gripped to the last page. Can't wait for the next.

Don't miss this one, it's a good un, 18 Jan 2007

What starts as a very normal family holiday ends up as something far from normal, a complete nightmare in fact. There are plenty of sub-plots and some excellent character development. What can I say, read it, you'll enjoy it.
I am really looking forward to the sequel.

Sensational debut! 17 Jan 2007
Reviewer: Lauren I Staton (France)
I loved the historical connection to Llewellyn and the wonderful setting of Wales. Dalton moved me quickly to modern times without losing any of the interest he'd built up. The characters drew me in from the first few pages and kept me there with every flick of the page. And as for Mr Nasty and Despicable I just wanted to jump straight into the book and sort the (.......) out myself. I'm glad I left Mr Dalton to do the dastardly deed, but I won't tell you any more. This novel is Dalton's debut; I'll certainly be looking out for the next one.

Get hold of this book and then prepare yourself; on the other hand don’t, just read it, 14 Jan 2007

Reviewer: Alex Hollis ‘son of Reg’ (Berkshire UK)
Not quite realising what I was about to read, I jumped head first into this book. The prologue throws you into a dark medieval world, where the basis of this great story has its beginnings told.
Then without warning you are thrust into the modern day, idyllic locations, an array of characters from the most innocent to the most vile share the limelight in this interwoven tale of people inextricably linked by one common denominator, A THIRST FOR BLOOD.
The author’s use of graphic sexual violence and stomach-churning horror may shock you, but this is balanced with a sense of normality in the situations, people, and the places the story revolves around. You will be bounced around the different sets of characters from paragraph to paragraph like you wouldn’t believe, but this is what keeps you gripped and renders you helpless to put the book down.
This is not a genre I would normally read but, having read it and been totally gripped by it, Mr Dalton’s next book will be a must read for me

Great first book! 7 Jan 2007
Reviewer: The girl (UK)
A friend recommended this book to me (good work, Ant), and though ‘horror’ is generally not my cup of tea, I really enjoyed this book and was very impressed for a first publication! The characters are well developed, very believable and the story is edge of seat stuff; sometimes it hit a bit of descriptive overload, but overall a very enjoyable read! <Back>
